Connecting at the Michigan Emerging conference

We participated in the Michigan Emerging conference recently at the Ford Conference Center in Dearborn, Michigan. I gave a talk (Crafting Your Mobile Strategy), and we had a table from which to share our story.

We met some great people (and a few crazy ones). The entrepreneurial energy and ideas were palpable, and the conversations energizing.

Andy Basile from Young Basile shared his enthusiasm for startups, software development, and technology innovation. Who knew we had such a weighty IP firm in Michigan, with an office in Palo Alto? Not me.

Laura Pecherski at West Michigan Allstar dropped by to chat about the various cool things she’s got going. As a result we invited Laura and her boyfriend, Ryan Vaughn, Momentum 2010 participant and AO friend, to SpinDown (our occasional Friday afternoon beer and snacks get together) a few days later. Building connections with the next generation of business leaders is one of the most satisfying aspects of my job.

Sharing company (and kid) stories with Janet Tyler, co-founder of Airfoil, was a serendipitous treat. Airfoil was another surprise for me. Not only do they specialize in PR for tech firms, but they too have an office in Silicon Valley.

Arzika did a great job organizing the event. We enjoyed the opportunity to share the Atomic story and were excited by the people and ideas we met.

Chatting with you and Marissa was a highpoint of the conference for me, definitely! Thanks again for having us out to AO and I hope we can get together soon to talk about the entrepreneurial awesomeness going on in West Michigan.

P.S. The crazy people there were my favorite :)
