3 Ways Customers Can Get the Most Out of Working with an Atomic Team

It’s no secret – custom software is expensive. Who wants to pay a team of bright, engaged developers, designers, and delivery leads and not feel like they are getting the most value they could? Hopefully, no one. We don’t like it either. Atomic teams love to see their clients succeed.

We get excited when clients are jazzed about the work we are doing together. So help us help you!

Show us the big picture.

Before you even begin working with an Atomic team, tell us what you are hoping for, your goals, and upcoming milestones. This will help us put together the right kind of team for you from the start.

What are you hoping to gain from our work together? What is your roadmap?

Be sure to loop your whole team in! Seeing the full picture of where we are and where we want to go can make all the difference. It helps us understand the why behind the work we are doing and helps us strategize about how we might be able to provide high-leverage solutions.

Help us help you by sharing the big picture and the motivation behind it.

Support us in pair programming.

Pair programming: is an agile software development technique in which two programmers work together at one workstation. One, the driver, writes code while the other, the observer or navigator, reviews the code as it is typed. The two programmers switch roles frequently.< Sometimes clients are hesitant about pair programming. At first glance, it seems like you would get more done with everyone working independently. More people typing means more features delivered, right? Not so much. First of all, I love working with other Atoms. When you work with Atomic, you are getting the benefit of poly-skilled, co-located teams who like and trust each other. In other words, we work effectively together!

Second, the feedback and communication we get in real-time are hard to match in other modes of working. Pairing allows us to iterate faster, innovate all the time, and catch potential problems and edge cases sooner. Read more about the value we find in pair programming in this post.

Help us help you by collaborating with us to build pairing into the structure of Atomic teams.

Open the conversation.

It is music to our ears when a client asks us, “How can we help you work effectively?” and follows through on what we discuss. Atomic teams are scrappy, humble, and ready to dive into tough work. Help us help you by engaging us in conversations early and often about how we can get there together!
