3 Reasons to Attend GLSEC 2015

It’s that time of the year again. SoftwareGR is once again presenting the premier technical conference in West Michigan—GLSEC (the Great Lakes Software Excellence Conference).

The conference is on Monday, May 11th and will be held at the Prince Conference Center at Calvin College.

Register before it’s too late.

Three Reasons You Should Attend GLSEC

1. This Year’s Theme: The Internet of Things (IoT)

The world is changing fast. Smart devices are everywhere, and many organizations are looking to get involved with this new and interesting ecosystem. GLSEC’s conference theme this year is IoT. IoT is the world of interconnected devices, and it’s changing the software landscape. Understanding this new landscape is paramount for IT professionals.

GLSEC’s brought in speakers in from Twitter, Microsoft, Whirlpool, and others to share their learnings, insights, and case studies related to the IoT.

Don’t want to take GLSEC’s word for it. Start Garden, one of GLSEC’s sponsors, just announced their new accelerator program called Seamless late last month. It’s primarily focused on IoT startups.

2. 101 Training Sessions

GLSEC is also offering a series of 101 trainings as a compliment to the IoT themed sessions. The 101 sessions are designed to give an overview of modern technologies and application design principles. The sessions will be valuable for both developers and technical managers. They’ll also provide a bridge to various coLearning classes that are being taught at the Factory in Grand Rapids.

The 101 sessions include:
– Introduction to Swift (Apple’s new language for writing Apps)
– Overview of modern web frameworks
– Introduction to User Experience (UX)

3. Amazing People, Great Discussions, and Fun

GLSEC sells out every year. Along with the outstanding content, the program intentionally provides ample time for coffee, snacks, and networking. GLSEC even provides ice cream!

All in all, it’s a fun day and one you don’t want to miss. I hope to see you there.
