Article summary
Atomic Object had four interns this summer, two in Grand Rapids and two in Detroit. We invest heavily in the development and growth of our interns, putting them to work on real projects, interacting with real clients, and getting a taste for the world of commercial software and agile design.
Thanks to all of our interns for their hard work this summer. We’ve loved having you here.
Michelle Dowling
Michelle is a Grand Valley State University student majoring in Computer Science, and minoring in Mathematics and Spanish. She plans to graduate in May 2015. When Michelle has free time, she reads, plays video games, or hangs out with friends or family. A good adventure is always welcome too!
I came to Atomic to learn as much as I could, and I am certainly being challenged to learn more and more every day. Atomic Object seems to be a place full of bright, quirky minds who are always eager to help solve the next problem– in short, a wonderful environment to work and learn in.
Matt Johnson
Matt is a Computer Science and Mathematics double major at Hope College, and he plans to graduate in spring 2014. During his time at Atomic, he worked on two projects for the Ottawa Area Intermediate School district and helped start work on a project creating a new knowledge-sharing platform for professionals. He has enjoyed tackling new languages and learning new syntax and good coding practices from his coworkers. Matt also enjoys being on Hope’s track team, longboard skateboarding, wakeboarding, and wakesurfing.
I am impressed by how much each Atom cares about his or her work and customers. They work late on Fridays or stay up late Sundays just to make sure things get done and done right. Passion is the best word I’ve found to describe Atomic. The Atoms of Atomic Object are some of the best developers, designers, and people I have ever worked with.
Nick Land
Nick is a student at Oakland University, planning to graduate in 2015. He spent his summer working on the Happiness KPI (an internal project), and enjoyed learning new languages and getting familiar with the way things are done in the industry. Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his daughters, spend time out on the water, play horseshoes, and watch sports.
I love the transparency at Atomic. It’s a really relaxing place to work.
Adeline Miller
Adeline is studying Computer Science at Oakland University, where she plans to graduate May 2014. She has also been working on the Happiness KPI this summer, as well as learning about agile programming. Adeline is a avid reader and has recently gotten involved with Girl Develop It Detroit, which meets in the Atomic Detroit office.
The people at Atomic are all really hard workers and really care about each other. Its an amazing work environment.
